The Chicago Bulls faced off against the Los Angeles Lakers at the United Center. The crowd was hyped as the Bulls came strong, Josh Giddy driving into the paint for an immediate 2 points, that was followed up by a deep 3-pointer from Coby White to take a 5-0 lead. Players from both sides played really well, however the Bulls had the better Offense and Defense in the first quarter as they led as many as 13-points. On the Lakers side, Luka hit a really nice 3 in the beginning of the game. Lebron James, the All-Time leading scorer also had a really nice jumper from the base-line at the beginning that kind of resembled Micheal Jordan’s shot and had a monstrous dunk around the 6 minute mark. But the Bulls kept steaming ahead as Kevin Huerter and Matas Buzelis hit some really nice 3’s to keep the Bulls ahead as they were ahead by around 10 points by the end of the 1st quarter. As the 2nd quarter started however, the Los Angeles Lakers started to come back and were able to stay within reach as Jaxson Hayes had a massive Alley-Oop with 6 minutes and 15 seconds left in the 2nd quarter and another nice Alley-Oop at the 4 min mark. Despite the Bulls hitting some nice 3s and having some nice plays, they were turning the ball over and the Lakers were able to capitalize off this and Lebron James was able to make some really nice plays in the paint with less 1 min remaining. In the final seconds with a little over 5 seconds, Austin Reaves had the ball and had it poked out by Huerter, but to his luck, Gabe Vincet was able to get the ball and launch a 3 and hit it with half a second left gaining the lead by 1. As the 3rd quarter began, it was the Lakers who were in control as Reaves hit a nice 3 and dunked the ball. Lebron James also followed it up with an amazing Alley-Oop dunk as the Lakers were in control all of the 3rd quarter as the Lakers defense started too look faster. Even as the 4th quarter began, it seemed as if the Lakers were in control leading by as much as 17 points. However, the Lakers defense seemed to start slowing down, not sure if because Luka needed some rest or what but with 10 minutes remaining, the Bulls started to march back as Coby White and Kevin Huerter hit a really nice and wide-open 3’s. Coby White started to catch on fire as he had an acrobatic shot that went in, hit a 3 pointer to bring the game within single digits with just a little less than 8 minutes to play, and hit another 3 pointer with 7.5 minutes to play. Even the crowd started getting into the game and started getting loud. Now, even tho the Lakers were able to make some plays, the Bulls defense really started to step up as Lebron Jame’s lay-up was blocked by Nikola Vucevic. Of course, Lebron thought it was a foul but the refs knew that it was a clean block as he got all ball then maybe his hand, but it was not a foul. Anyways, upon the block, Nikola was able to hit a 3 pointer after hesitating to pass the ball but decided to take the open shot and hit it with over 2 min left. Here is where the game starts to heat up and gets interesting, the Bulls were down with 1:15 min left, and Giddy was able to get an and-1 and make the free throw. Kevin Huerter was then able to hit a contested deep 3 over LeBron James with 45 seconds left to cut the game down to 1 point. Reaves was then able to hit a nice shot as they led by 5 with 12 seconds left. Here are the key moments leading up to the wild finish; Patrick Williams hit a 3-pointer with 9.8 seconds left to cut the Lakers’ lead to two, LeBron James then had a turnover as Giddey stole the ball and found Coby White for a 3-pointer, taking the lead with 1 point with 6.1 seconds left. Austin Reaves drove for a layup to take a 117-116 lead with 3.3 seconds left. As the Bulls were out of Time-Outs and some lady screaming like a mad-women, Giddy in bounded the ball to Patrick #44, passing it back to Giddy with 2 seconds left and launching it with 1 second left right over LeBron James from a little over half court and BANG, burying the buzzer beater for the win as the arena exploded in pure madness. Players rushed off the bench to go hug Giddy, fans were jumping out of their seat and Social Media instantly went wild. I really hope you enjoyed reading (:
